Programming

Lathrup Village, Michigan, was recently featured in a cover story in the Michigan Municipal League's Review magazine. The community was recognized for its outstanding TimeBank program where community members voluteer their time in everything from baking cookies to yard work. Their volunteer time is then recorded or "banked" and in turn they can use that banked time to have other volunteers do projects around their home or organization or other project of their choosing. The members of the Michigan Municipal League selected this TimeBank program as the 2009 Community Excellence Award winner. As the winner, Lathrup Village received the Community Excellence Award trophy that they get to keep during their year-long reign as CEA champ. The 2010 CEA champion will be selected during the League's annual Convention Sept. 21-24 in Dearborn, Michigan.
