What are some good crafts for a one yr old?
My son is 16 months old. He likes to play outside in the sand, and he has finger painted before. What kind of crafts are fun and appropriate at this age? Something that will keep his attention for more than 2 minutes and not cost me an arm and a leg?

This isn't really a "craft", but my 19 month old loves "putting things in and taking things out". He can be entertained for hours (well, maybe not hours, but at least 20 minutes) :-) by a couple of chopsticks and a water bottle -- he puts them in one at a time, then dumps them out and does it again. He also likes things that splash, so I will fill up the bathtub and give him a bunch of water-safe toys to toss it, then pull them out and do it again (of course, this requires close supervision because of the risk of drowning). He also has a shape-sorter that keeps him busy for a while.
In general, I find that he's a little too young for most crafts -- he needs help with a lot of things, so they aren't great for him to do on his own, and they just don't hold his attention yet Even coloring isn't exciting for him (although he LOVES it when I draw and he guesses what I'm drawing).
