Question by Jaidee: What are the steps required to planning a story?

I need help. I normally just write what's in my head, with no planning whatsoever, but I've found that it normally leads to writer's block. So I was thinking if I can plan a story then I might be able to finish one and (hopefully) get it published. So how do I plan a story because to be honest I have no clue!

Write what would be on the back of the book, but with a lot of detail and go to the ending. Then write that
